Mrs. Jiskra was my French teacher in 9th grade at Hocker Grove JH and again at SMNW, along with Barbara Youree. I studied with those ladies all three years and ended up getting a double major in French and Speech/Theatre (thanks to Bill Coplin!) at Emporia State (Kansas State Teachers College at the time).  My professors at KSTC were quite impressed with my accent and knowledge and moved me to more advanced classes as soon as I started. I give total credit to Mrs. Jiskra and Mrs. Youree for that! I went on to teach French for 14 years before becoming a full-time high school counselor. Kudos to Ellen Jiskra for getting me started on that career path!! My children also studied French and I've been fortunate to visit France several times!
